At Vita Sana Lifestyle Medicine, we believe that true health means living with energy, purpose, and balance. Every day, we help our patients make small, meaningful lifestyle changes — and now, I’m committing to do the same in a very real way:
I’m training for a Half-Ironman triathlon.
That’s 1.2 miles of swimming, 56 miles of cycling, and 13.1 miles of running — all in one day. It’s an exciting challenge and a personal opportunity to live the lifestyle medicine principles I share with my patients.
Why Take on a Half-Ironman?
As a lifestyle medicine provider, I see the incredible power of healthy habits to prevent and even reverse chronic disease. But I also know that change is hard. Life gets busy, motivation fades, and balance can slip away.
Half-Ironman training keeps me grounded in the same journey my patients experience — setting goals, finding consistency, and navigating setbacks. It’s about proving that progress is possible at any stage of life.
Lifestyle Medicine in Action
Preparing for this race engages every pillar of lifestyle medicine — the foundation of what we practice at Vita Sana:
Movement: Building endurance and strength through regular, purposeful activity.
Nutrition: Fueling with whole, plant-forward foods that optimize performance and recovery.
Rest: Prioritizing quality sleep and active recovery to prevent burnout.
Stress Management: Using mindfulness and gratitude to maintain perspective.
Connection: Drawing support from family, friends, and community.
Purpose: Staying motivated by the “why” — to inspire and support others toward better health.
Inspiring Our Patients and Community
This journey isn’t just about athletic performance. It’s about living the message we teach: that health is built on daily choices. If my training encourages even one person to take a walk, try a new recipe, or commit to better self-care, it will have been worth it.
Follow the Journey
Over the coming months, I’ll be sharing updates from my Half-Ironman training — lessons about motivation, nutrition, recovery, and mindset. My hope is to inspire others to pursue their own version of “better,” whether that’s improving endurance, managing stress, or simply living more intentionally.
At Vita Sana, lifestyle medicine isn’t just what we teach —
it’s how we live.
